Incredible musical talent on this page,
along with some very interesting stories and anecdotes. The range in voices is astounding as well, from possibly
the highest pitch ever recorded with Minnie Riperton to the smooth Lou Rawls, the soulful Otis Redding and the passion of the Righteous Brothers.
Baby boomers have tracked the progression of The Rolling Stones since the beginning and definitely remember Johnny Rivers' "Secret Agent Man" and Jeannie C. Riley's
"Harper Valley PTA".
I wonder how many women didn't emulate The Supremes doing "Stop! In The Name of Love"? Seems like they just had one hit after another. Smokey Robinson was another Motown
performer with a seemingly endless string of hits. Shaking a Tail Feather with Mitch Ryder and "Dream Lover" by Bobby Rydell.
Blue eyed soul personified were The Rascals, who wrote their own pieces and practiced what they preached. They refused to tour on any bill that was not integrated. Now I hear
tunes like "Groovin" and "It's a Beautiful Morning" and it sure brings back some good memories.
The award for the most heart-wrenching song I've ever heard goes to Bonnie Raitt for "I Can't Make You Love Me". I cannot listen to that song and not get a lump in my throat.
